Nominations Open for Advisory Council Members

Do you or someone you know want to support and advise Americans for the Arts on the services we provide to the field? If yes, we invite you to nominate yourself or a colleague for one of Americans for the Arts’ Advisory Councils!

Beginning today, Americans for the Arts invites arts professionals from across the country to submit nominations for incoming advisory council members. Advisory Council members are uniquely positioned to connect with their peers and Americans for the Arts staff to provide insight into trends that are relevant to today’s arts practitioners. The Advisory Councils are created based on the needs of our members. The current Advisory Councils include the Arts Education Advisory Council, the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council, the Private Sector Network Advisory Council, and the Public Art Network Advisory Council. Each year a membership-based election process allows for new members to join these focused Advisory Councils to engage with colleagues and support Americans for the Arts programming.

Advisory Council Members advise Americans for the Arts staff on programming and services, as defined by Americans for the Arts staff, in order to build a deeper connection to Americans for the Arts members and the arts and culture field as a whole. Specific roles may vary depending on the focus and needs of the topic area for which the Advisory Council is responsive.

Nominations close Monday, Sept. 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM ET and can be submitted by filling out the nomination form. Members and non-members are welcome to submit nominations; however, nominees must be members of Americans for the Arts. For questions about membership, visit our online Member center or contact

All nominations will be reviewed for the ballot by current Advisory Council members. Incoming Advisory Council members for the 2021-2022 term will be established by a popular vote by Americans for the Arts members in November.
